I'm in a similar situation. I've been communicating with Logitech Tech Support for a while now to no avail.
My situation: My PC recognizes that the headset is plugged in. In Device Manager it is listed under "Other Devices" as Logitech USB Headset with a yellow ! triangle. The physical buttons work: vol+ and vol-. Obviously it is powered so the pressing the mic button
mutes and unmutes. But the PC doesn't recognize it as a sound device. So the sound continues to come through my speakers, and no matter which app I'm using it doesnt recognize the microphone as sound in.
I was given a few methods to trouble shoot it:
1) Try plugging it into a USB 2.0 port. Problem is that's what it was plugged into.
2) Try updating the windows driver. Does no good as there are no driver updates, yet.
3) Try setting the windows audio service to manual. Issue still occurs.

So, the headset is supposed to use the stock windows audio driver. But Windows 10 doesn't recognize it as a sound device. If there was a way to change that (that's out of my league), then it may fix the issue.
There is, and quite a few people have said it fixed their Logitech microphone issues. Give it a try:
1. Run Device Manager
2. Go to the area that lists your headset (probably "Sound, video and game controllers")
3. Right click your headset and select "Properties"
4. Go to the "Drivers" tab
5. Click "Roll back driver"
If "Roll back driver" is grey out:
1. Right click your headset and select "Update Driver Software..."
2. Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
3. Select "USB Audio Device" from the list
Let me know if this works. Thanks!

I tried that, and at the end the response was that the drivers were already up to date. Furthermore, my computer has three USB ports; the mic works well on one of them and not on the other three...including one it worked on just fine before I upgarded to Windows 10.
Hey, sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Is there a chance that it doesn't work in USB 3.0 ports but works find in USB 2.0 ports? (You can usually tell as USB 3.0 ports have blue plastic inside them and USB 2.0 ports are black.)
Thanks!
