KCK Google Fiber as Cable Provider, Using Home Theater Receivers, and TV Support

I own the Mitsubishi Model # WD-73742.  Additionally living in Kansas City, I have Google Fiber as my Cable & Internet provider which isn't listed either.  Additional recommendation for a patch is the implementation receiver support. I have an Onkyo 7.1 Surround Sound Model TX-NR727.  Thanks for getting that squared away ;)

Hey klownr02,

Thanks for the info. So it seems you have 4 issues:

1) Your TV provider isn't listed

2) You can't control your Set top box

3) You can't control your TV

4) You can't set up your AVR

Is that correct? I believe we have easy fixes for #3 and 4 for you. #1 will take a bit more investigation, and we'll need to work through #2.

Can you let me know and we'll work through things?

Im an idiot. The TV is set up now, the Reciever is set up (when I say xbox off or on they ALL turn off or on) , but no Google Fiber :( So yes #2 and #1 are sorta the same.  The model number is GFHD100 with Google Fiber on the back of the Set top box.

Nah, not at idiot, you bought an Xbox One, right? :)

So for #1, could you send me a PM with your zip code so I can file a bug?

For #2, Google Fiber is actually listed as the manufacturer on the box? No mention of Pace, Motorola, or Cisco?

I live on the Kansas City, Mo side and have the same issue: No Google Fiber TV listed as an option.  I called Xbox customer service yesterday to also let them know of the issue so that hopefully it could be included at a future date.  Anyway, I second this request and encourage others to contact cs as well.

As to the box manufacturer, I'm not sure who technically makes it, although it appears to be proprietary to Google.  The online description seems to indicate it has an IR receiver, but I believe the remote is bluetooth.

I've got the same issue, did some digging and found that Humax manufactures their boxes.  Unfortunately, the Google customer care rep was unable to tell me what Humax model number theirs closely resembles as I was hoping to try to spoof it through the Xbox.

Here's an article from last year that talks about Humax as the manufacturer:

Yes, the remote is bluetooth for the Google TV Box, Logitech - Harmony Universal Remote Control is the only aftermarket controller for the box (that I know of at the current time).   Thank you Natty for doing the extra research. I spoke with Google and they said "There isn't a specific manufacturer for their box. It's Google Hardware. Now the assembly of boxes may be done in other parts of the world, but as for a specific manufactorer Google is the owner and maker of the box itself. "  He then went on to tell me that numerous people have been requesting this and they are on board with Microsoft to get the two systems in line with each other. So from that...I gathered...a waiting game. No problem. As long as this is addressed and Stud makes some things happen :) zip is [Mod removed] . Thanks for the quick replies also. High Five!

Today, I talked to a friend who is a higher up with the Google Fiber team (I'm also in Kansas City, on the Missouri side).  He told me that nobody from Microsoft has contacted them about this. That's saddening. Doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to set up. I have coding experience. I could do it for you by the end of the weekend.

Harmony 650 Universal Remote has all codes for the Google Box, (i got it Black Friday) maybe Microsoft could just call them for support. just sayin' . Additionally, Google consistently have new members do their costumer relations phone calls as they continue to expand. Rest assured, I spoke with Google, you may have got someone new.  They said they will correct the issue. If you new with Fiber..(as I was the first in Kansas to have it installed) they take customer recommedations VERY seriously and will do everything to correct issues. They want their Fiber service to accomadate their customers with no strings attached. So lets be patient and let the experiment of new technology and possibilities slowly unroll :) Ok Im done with this thread :)
