Black Ops 2 Unrecognized Disc... STILL!!??

check to see if your disc is clean or restart the console and try again.

None of the old suggestions have ever worked. Clearing cache, cleaning disc (Its brand new), restarting console, removing hard drive, downloading to hard drive, etc...

your game is not working because of possible scratchs on disc.

Umm.... Let me check again. Yep, its still new. Still no scratches. None. OK. Checklist time. Pardon any cynical undertones. I'm not new to CDs. Worked in a strip club for 7 years. 2 as security guard and, you guessed it, the remaining 5 as a DJ. And from time to time, we used, you guessed it again, CDs. After that, 2 years as a DJ at a different bar. And, again, I had to use, yep, CDs. And yes, I've cleaned CD's before. I did it alot, BINGO!!, when DJing, while, YES!!, using CDs. But thanks for the diagrams showing how to clean CDs, including the picture of what a scratch may look like. So, moving on... As stated in the original thread, there's a supposed "FIX UPDATE" in the works. In the same thread, I stated that I've gone through all the USUAL SUGGESTIONS... Does anyone have any leads on THAT? Please feel free to spare us all the, "Wipe the disc.", "Copy the game to the HD.", "Restart the console.", ETC.... Thank you...

AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After 86 rounds of the open/close game, IT WORKED!!!! FINALLY!! YAY! Then the green screen.... *SMACK* Restart. Muey No Bueno!! Please.... Anyone... I lie here a broken man... A desperate pitiful waste of a shallow man... A sarcophagus of- I JUST WANNA PLAY THIS DAMN GAME!!!!!!!! IS THERE ANY WORD ON THIS ELUSIVE PATCH!!?? Hey man. Sorry to tell you, but as of right now, you have to buy a new Xbox 360 to play it. I have the same problem. And I know you're tired of everyone telling you unhelpful information. I was in the same boat. I tried relentlessly open/closing the disc tray. And it was even messing with me console doing it so much. like freezing or the disc tray getting stuck. But my copy works on both my cousin's and brother in laws' xbox 360 console; and not mine. I have an Arcade. Cousin has an old Elite. And brother in law has a New slim model. I'm guessing, we are screwed. I've noticed everyone with older consoles have trouble playing this game. And if you have a newer console, I guess it isn't subjective. This problem might have a chance of occurring on any new or old 360. I was furious when I had to beg my relative to barrow his 360 just to play a game I shelled out $60 for. All of my other games work. just not Blops 2.

The series is dead to me after this issue...

Played for about 120 hours of online multiplayer only, and yesterday this happened and the game won't work since.

Sorry to hear about that.  What have you done to try and troubleshoot the issue?
 

Have you tried each of the steps from our sticky post for Troubleshooting disc read issues?  Those steps can help.  Also, what files do you see in your console's Storage?  Go to Settings>System>Storage>hard drive>Games and Apps>Black Ops 2
 

Let us know what you find out when you try those things.

I also have an xbox 360 Arcade, is it just Arcades that it doesn't work in then? because if it is, that is ridiculous as mine isn't working:( i am so annoyed omfg.

Yea when blops 2 first came out i was able to play it every day no problem, then a couple months ago my friend tried to play it in his sup-er old 360 and it ended up scratching the disc severely and i tried to play it a little (figuring it wouldnt work) and like i figured, it didn't, it kept freezing after all the developers names and just stayed at a black screen. Then he finally replaced it with a brand new copy a week ish ago and i tried playing it and now it AND the old scratched copy i have just keep saying unrecognized disc. I put in a bunch of my other games to check if it was my xbox but they all load just fine. Dunno whats going on.

@mister parks:   I did what you suggested and in MY blops 2 folder, all i have are 2 save datas, a title update, and the nuketown download.
