Xbox One stereo headset adapter/game sound

Hi all today my Xbox One stereo headset adapter came in the post all works great with my tritton pro+ the only thing id like to know is, is there a way to stop game sound coming through the xb1 control. I know i can turn it down on the chat adapter but can you turn it off without turning it down?

any help would be great thanks guys/girls
