Xbox One sign in error message and error codes.

Hey all, Recently there have been some random occurances where I turn on my Xbox One and instead of signing me in a notification pops up saying, "Couldn't sign in, sign in using a controller". I can then sign in just fine with the controller, but when I then go to the notification section and launch that message, I get another message stating, "There was a problem. We couldn't sign you in. Try again in a few minutes, or check your account by signing in to account.live.com. Sign in: 0x870072EE7". I've also gotten the same message but with the code "0x87DD000F". I've looked up both codes and the only troubleshooting I've found has to do with system updates not downloading because of poor network connections, and my updates have installed just fine. Could this be just a poor network connection at the moment I'm turning the console on or is there a hardware issue I need to be concerned with?

Howdy Car RamRod 18!

I'm sorry to hear about the error code issue. It is possible that at the time of signing in there may have been a connection issue. I would suggest trying these steps if this issue happens again.

Please give the following steps a try:

  • Press and hold the power button on your console for 10 seconds.
  • Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
  • Leave the console unplugged for 5 minutes and plug in your console.
  • Power on your console.

If this issue continues to occur then please let us know and we will be here to help.
