yep because the billing info must match the billing that visa or mastercard has on file

it is telling me i can use the card when i am trying to buy xbox live with it why wont it let me use it

Some prepaid cards will not let you sign up for repeating subscriptions. Instead you can buy a prepaid card at 7-11, GameStop, EB, Publix, Target or WalMart, or buy a prepaid online game code at http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-LIVE-Month-Gold-Membership-360/dp/B0029LJIFG and their 19% discount off list ain't bad... but make sure to choose the Online Game Code, they will deliver the code to you on the screen right after purchase instead of waiting for the card to arrive in the US Snail.

You need a prepaid credit card that is refillable and requires you to register it somehow, either online, or ones from a financial institute.

Otherwise it's just considered to be a gift card, regardless of it being visa or mastercard, and it wont be acceptable.

Let me tell you exactly how to do it:

• Register on the site (of the Pre-Paid Visa or Mastercard)
• Now, go to PAYPAL, and add that credit card. (They will charge you $2, but reimburse you through paypal)
• Go to the xbox site, and click Paypal as your payment option
• A couple of tips, when you add your credit card to Paypal, you will have to wait 24 hours for the transaction to appear on your account, and with that transaction there will be a 4 digit code that you have to enter to confirm it!

Please do not bump old threads.  Prepaid Visa's on the Microsoft site are very hit or miss. Most of the time they will not work due to the expiration dates.

oh and  have another question ..if you have enough money on your Microsoft account can you buy the game online without adding billing information and credit card information or do you have to have/add those things on to there regardless?
