Kinect setup

Hi all,

I'm "thinking" about possibly getting Kinect but the room that I have my 360 in isn't very big and in all the fancy MS press releases it shows people in quite big rooms using Kinect. So I was wondering what is the optimun/reccomended room setup for Kinect? i.e. distance from the Kinect camera etc.

Many Thanks

6 feet from screen should be ok - a little more for 2 player.

There's a new optical lens device just been released that clips over the Kinect device and reduces the amount of play space required as well.

(Get 'Child of Eden' - it's brilliant.)

if you can elevate the sensor you can improve things, I have mine sitting about 1.6m off the ground and and I can play 1 player games about 4 ft away and 2 player games 6ft away.

Yeah - forgot to mention height. The higher the better really.

Mine:- (Open plan kitchen / diner provided a ready-made Kinect shelf )

My sensor is only about 16 inches or so off the floor. I have about 6 feet of space to the sofa and it generally works well although i have a few niggles with kinect sports, mainly the football game.

I'll probably get one of the lens add ons as long as they're not too much. (about 30 notes i think). Just to give me a little more room to play with.

Look at nyko.com and the lens is on the home page.

Thanks for the repleis guys, really appreciate it. I will look into putting the sensor on top of my tv as it's fairly high.

Just a couple more questions. How big is the stand/foot of the sensor? Also would there be an issue of my 5 year old playing using Kinect at height?

The base of the sensor is about 2 inch squre, but as huffy said, you can get a tv bracket.

Also, your kiddie shouldn't have any problems as it adjusts itself up and down. You'll need to run the setup in different light conditions to get the best out of it too.
