Anyone else on TalkTalk?

Does anyone else have TalkTalk as there ISP, apparently i do and it's bloody terrible.  Downloading speeds and ping just keep fluctuating like crazy.  Had this problem for at least a month, so annoying, i go into a match online and everything is fine and then all of sudden i 5 second lagg and can't do anything.

Should be getting 4mb download, i just did 2 speedtests and got these results.

Should i call my ISP and ask em what's going on, my dad called a couple weeks back and they said they were having network problems but it should be sorted within a week but it's still just pure crap.

Also does anyone else on TalkTalk have these problems?

i'd recommend checking with BT first if they still deal with your PSTN line to check there's no faults that could be causing the fluctuations... i'll be honest and say i've had no dealings with TalkTalk and how good/bad they are when it comes to broadband...however...they utilise such "marketing" companies as Bradford Marketing to sell their services so because of that I refuse to even entertain them... but yes..firstly check with BT all is well and if it is play hell with TalkTalk

Yes you need to call your ISP, I'd say the first speedtest you posted is normal compared to the second.

Have you done a silent line test or anything along those lines?

Call Talk Talk and check it out, it could also be BT, I used to be with AOL BB and a BT line, like you OP I had nothing but problems, I'm with Talk Talk for BB and line rental now, and my speeds are far better.

Yes the first speedtest is ok.  The second one is terrible though, not good enough to play on xbox live or even stream a youtube video, and there is only a 4 minute difference between the two tests.

If i have problems again today, i'll give them call.  Thanks for the feedback from everyone.

Let us know what they say, ISPs are often reluctant to admit if there is a problem at their end (something I'm going through now with BE).

I'd check your line for noise first. Do you get these problems when it rains or some other change in the weather?

How do i check the line for noise?

Problems occur pretty much everyday, regardless of weather.

Currently having no problems, so i'm not sure if it's just in the evening and night.  I'm guna play xbox online to see when it starts to lagg.

To do the test plug a corded analogue telephone into your master socket (with no filter attatched) then dial 17070, option 2. Listen very carefully for any noises on the line, it should be silent with no crackles, hum, buzz, etc.
