Answer

Hi,

1.       Do you have any security software installed on the computer?

Try the Methods provided below and check if the issue persists.

Method 1:

I would suggest that you disable the Security software and then try to start the service and check if the issue persists.

Note:

Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2:

You may also have to start the dependency services and check if that helps.

To view service dependencies check the link provided below.

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/srvdep_view_service_dependencies.mspx?mfr=true

Method 3:

Check if the computer is not in selective startup.

Steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state

Configure Windows XP to start normally.

a)        Click Start, and then click Run.

b)       Type msconfig, and then click OK.
The
System Configuration Utility dialog box is displayed.

c)        Click the General tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services, and then click OK.

d)       When you are prompted, click Restart to restart the computer.
