My Web Cam does not work

Hi, Please help.  I have just installed a Microsoft lifecam VX-6000, but the web cam does not work, I can see and hear, and they can hear me, but not see me.  This is the 2nd web cam in 2 days, as I took the other one back thinking it was faulty, when checking the settings on the Skype test service, the video is greyed out, and the message says "Your web cam isn't supported by Skype".  I have uninstalled and re-installed, downloaded drivers from the suppliers web site, to no avail. When I checked the setting on the Microsoft web cam it said "The camera you selected is not working propely, or may be in use by another programe".  Why is nothing simple anymore?, unfortunatly I do not have the knowledge to sort out the problem,  “Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.”

• Does this happen only on skype?

• Did you try using webcam with other applications?
