Windows 7 - Updates are very slow

If your computer is having problems finding and installing operating system updates, try using the Windows Update troubleshooter to fix the problem. It makes sure that your computer is connected to the Internet, and checks to see whether your network adapter and Windows Update services are running correctly.

Open the Windows Update troubleshooter:

I am having problems with updates as well.  This is in addition to myriad other problems, hangups, freezes, and just general lack of anything working quite right on a consistent basis.  For example, the only browser that will load a webpage is Microsoft Internet Explorer.  I try restarting my computer constantly and it hangs on the updates.  Usually after enough time goes by while on the same update ("installing update 3 of 53") overnight etc. I hard reboot.  And to add insult to injury, the "troubleshooter" function built into windows 7 is broken, always says it has stopped working.  Is there a troubleshooter to fix the troubleshooter, and if so, I wonder if that too is broken.  I'm extremely frustrated right now with my win7 (64-bit home premium) desktop.  I feel like it's a no win situation -- I really don't like Macs, and linux has many limitations and can be frustrating as well, yet I'm at the point where I don't think I can handle this broken and EXTREMELY frustrating user experience any longer.  I despise having to sink so much of my very limited free time into trying to figure out what is broken with this computer.

The last install of 7 was to a virtual machine and it took only a few hours to complete. I have fast internet so the updates downloaded fast.

Why are you complaining I have 247 Updates to apply and it never get past 167 before freezing with the effort to complete......

Sadly there is not media creation tool to make a new Windows 7 ISO with more updates integrated.

That's not entirely true.  The process of pushing updates to an image is called slipstreaming.
