Windows 8 People app is not connecting to my Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn

My Windows 8 People app is not connecting to my Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn (all the social networking accounts I've integrated).

 

 

 

Details:

 

  My contacts all sync and I can see if they are online but cannot use What's New (Connected To only lists Microsoft)

 

  Try to connect within the People app and there are no errors, just get a 'Syncing...' but nothing happens

 

  I can see my Facebook pics in the Pictures app

 

  My login account is my hotmail account, not the local account

 

  My wife has a seperate profile (also hotmail) and has no issues with the People/Social site integration

 

 

 

Troubleshooting done:

 

  Removed all the linked accounts and re-added them

 

  Uninstalled/reinstalled People (and all the apps associated) (after re-installing the app it did connect for about 5 mins.)

 

  changed account type to local and back to hotmail

 

 

 

I bought this OS mainly for this feature, if it doesn't work whom would I speak to for a refund (I am willing to troubleshoot and try suggestions, but it has to work or it has to go...)?

I seem to have resolved the issue...

 

I removed all linked social sites from my profile, and set my account to local.  Then added a new user using my Hotmail address.  Logged in, re-added the accounts to my profile and People is now connecting to them!  Now I just hope it stays connected...
