Is there a product key reverse look up?

I found my Microsoft product key attached to a paper CD envelope but do not know which Microsoft product the key is for. I would like to determine this but obviously didn't want to type the key into a search engine.

Does it belong to you? If it belonged to you, I would see the concern. If there is no immediate need or purpose for it, I would set it aside until a situation arises where an application might require a product key and it turs out that it belongs to it.

You could run Belarc adivsor which retreive all your product keys and compare it with what it finds to see if it matches with any of the results:

and RockXP: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4138.html which has additional features,

Unfortunately, there is no such look-up.  It would be great to have a look-up, especially when "clear out" storage.

BTW:  This key is probably not a "recent" Windows key.
