Windows 7 Pro PPTP VPN error 807 and will not connect to remote server, XP machine connects no problems

I'm just configuring my new windows 7 laptop (Dell Precision M4400) running windows 7 professional and VPNs are not working, they always bomb out with error 807.  " The connection between your computer and the VPN server was interrupted."

I have created a PPTP dial-up connection so I can connect back to my workplace and when connecting I continually receive a 807 error.

To verify my internet etc is working I connected to the same location via my existing XP laptop (DELL precision M4300) that has identical VPN settings.  Everything connects aok.

I am also running ESET as my anti-virus and firewall and have disabled this for testing (normally I have no problems running this and is also running on my XP laptop).  I've also confirmed that the windows firewall is off.

I'm connecting via Wireless at home, internet is working fine, firewall has not changed at either end (I manage both ends) and as mentioned is working for my XP machine also running over wireless.
