CD burner won't burn... need to update firmware.

If Dell does not provided a firmware update and your computer is capable of running Windows 7 officialy, you may be out of lock and the CD (DVD???) has "died."

Hi,
Which version of the Windows operating system you have?
Have you made any software or hardware changes on the laptop prior to this issue?
Are you using any third party program to burn CD?
Perform the below steps to work on the issue.
Step 1: Run automated troubleshooter from the below links.
Fix problems with CD or DVD drives that can’t read or write media
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us
Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116/en-us
Step 2: If you have installed any third party program to burn the CD, I suggest you to update the software from the computer manufacture or the software manufacturer.
