What happened to the beautiful "Luna" theme windows xp had?!

I have a 60 day trial of windows 7 in a virtual machine gto test it out and to see if I like it, but I can't find a theme that is like windows xp with the blue taskbar and window bars and the red x button and the green start menu is all very colorful but any of the themes windows 7 has is not. also the control panel arrangement is very confusing. it has been the same since windows 95 to xp I don't know about vista though, and there is no setting to make it look like that again. I can't even get that luna theme from deviantart to work. windows 7 is advertised to be easy to customise, but from my experience it is not. this is one of the reaons I do not want to upgrade to windows 7. so is there any way I can make windows 7 mre like xp?

The Control Panel can be set to look like the XP version. Open Control Panel and look at the top/right of the window.

Click the View By: drop down menu and select either the Large or Small Icons view.

I tried to use that luna theme but it is the same luna theme I was having problems with when I try to install it it looks like windows xp without the themes service started which looks somewhat like the windows classic theme. also in the control panel I wasn't talking about the view, I was talking about each individual item. for instance in windows xp there is a display properties dialog with all the tabs wich are very handy unlike in windows 7 you have to navigate through links that you have to open up a whole new window for and cannot be directly accessed. is there any way I can change that because it is very confusing. and is there anything else I need to do to get the luna theme working? I replaced explorer.exe through the command prompt and ran the batch file that installed the theme bu it still doesn't work it looks more like the windows classic theme than it does the luna theme and looks like windows xp without the themes service started more than anything. What am I doing wrong?
