Some shortcuts with Windows logo key do not work

I have a new computer with Windows 7. For some reason these shortcuts do not work:

Shortcuts that will not work
Windows logo key  +Up Arrow

Maximize the window.

Windows logo key  +Left Arrow

Maximize the window to the left side of the screen.

Windows logo key  +Right Arrow

Maximize the window to the right side of the screen.

Windows logo key  +Down Arrow

Minimize the window.

Windows logo key  +Home

Minimize all but the active window.

Windows logo key  +Shift+Up Arrow

Stretch the window to the top and bottom of the screen.

Windows logo key  +Shift+Left Arrow or Right Arrow

Move a window from one monitor to another.

Other shortcuts work just fine.

Hi Anna,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

  • What is the make and model of the computer?
  • When was the last time they were working fine?
  • Do you remember making any specific change in the computer prior to the issue?

There could be several reasons for this cause and to diagnose the issue, let's try the following methods and check.

Method 1: Run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter

Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting. Under Hardware and Sound, click Configure a device. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Method 2: Put your computer in a clean boot state and check if the issue persists. I suspect there could be a third party software conflict causing the issue to occur.

Note: Restart your computer in normal mode by following step 7.

Method 3: Download and install hotfix for this issue.

Please to: Some function keys or keyboard shortcuts do not work correctly on a computer that is running Windows 7

Method 4: If the hotfix does not work, I'd suggest you perform system restore on your computer to the point your shortcut keys functioned normally.

Important: When you use System Restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed after that date are removed.

Hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reply in case you face any other issues with Windows in future.
