Dell SonicWall Global VPN Client Does not work in Windows 10

There is no download for the SonicWall Global VPN Client for Windows 10, I contacted Dell support that they state it is only supported up to Windows 8.  I downloaded the Windows 8 version and tried it but it gets stuck always "authenticating" so users cannot log into their office computer or access other systems remotely.  This is a new laptop that comes with a free upgrade to Windows 10.

Try this, it worked for me. From Dell support site:

http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/security/network-mobile-email/f/4904/t/19646189

We continued our searches. The issue seems to come from the latest GVC client.

My solution was (bear with me...)

  1. Install GVC 4.9.4.
  2. Install GVC 4.7.3 (no error this time).
  3. Uninstall GVC 4.9.4 (because it doesn't work).

It seems like the 4.7.3 client keeps some files that were from 4.9.4 or the other way around but the 4.7.3 client now works.

Still not working.

The only download I can find are GVC 4.9.0 at  http://help.mysonicwall.com/applications/vpnclient/,

only the 64 bit version will install after I upgraded to Windows 10.  On launching the GVC it is always authenticating and doesn't ask for a username or password in Windows 10.

As suggested I tried GVC 4.7.3, I get "Unable to manage networking component.  Operating system corruption may be preventing installation."    I uninstalled GVC 4.9.0 and again tried installing GVC 4.7.3 and get the same error.

I purchased another Toshiba laptop and didn't upgrade to Windows 10, on Windows 8.1 GVC 4.9.0 works with no issue.  Windows 10 must be the Operation system Corruption referred to in the error message.

David,

I had the same issue when I updated to Windows 10. I had version 4.9.0.1002 during the upgrade.

After experiencing the issue I logged into mysonicwall.com, went to free downloads and saw that Windows 10 was listed for the global VPN Client. I installed over the version I had and the issue was solved. I hope this helps you.

Thank you Jeremy.  I'm not an administrator or IT person, I don't have a SonicWall account.

To setup an account they need a renewal contact.

I'd like to download a SonicWall Global VPN Client that works on Windows 10 originating from Dell

from their download site like I was able to do for my Windows 7 & 8.1 Systems.

I think Windows 10 killed many user's ability to log in remotely when it was working fine before the "free" upgrade.

David,

Do you have someone that you could contact through your work?

The only way I know to get updated versions of the Global VPN Client is through the Dell Mysonicwall.com portal. That is the only trusted source to download the VPN client from. I would urge you to contact whoever manages the Sonicwall that you are connecting to and see if they can get you the 4.9.4.0306 client version

What I'm hearing is that to use Windows 10 I should contact IT and ask them to provide me what should be publicly available.  Below the list from Dell below shows no support for Windows 10, I did talk to someone on their support line who told me there is no support for Windows 10 yet.   I did contact my IT department whose reply is you don't upgrade the day the software is released -- in my case my Toshiba laptop dropped and the screen cracked so I purchased a new one with Windows 8.1 - Windows 8.1 requires switching between start and desktop and using search to get anything done, fills the screen with spam applications, requires registering to use the computer OOB, and is so counter-intuitive, difficult to use, that I took a huge risk and did the upgrade on a new system.

What you probably should have done was googled (or this being a Microsoft forum binged) something like "Make Windows 8 better"  Those 4 words would have taken you to about 4,000 different articles that coach you on how to make Windows 8.1 look and work nearly identical to Windows 7.  Something like Classic Shell makes you forget you're even using Windows 8.1.

I am, however, impressed that you were able to upgrade your operating system without issue instead of doing something sensible.  Well done.

So, in the future google something before you do something else.

I'm a little confused here - I filed this issue because before Windows 10, I could VPN to work.  After Windows 10, I cannot VPN to work.  Your "without issue" comment does not make sense, this is the fundamental issue.

Its also a loss for any company whose employees upgrade to Windows 10,  which I consider now dangerous to use because my other systems are getting microsoft messages stating all software is compatible with Windows 10 which based on  VPN is false, it is not safe to upgrade.
