Hi,
The printing issue was a known bug and was expected to be resolved by KB4524147. But there are reports of this update not resolving the printer issue. Expect it to be fixed by Patch Tuesday updates, due tomorrow.

Intermittent issues when printing
The print spooler service may intermittently have issues completing a print job and may result in a print job being canceled or failing.

My problem was not with the printer after installing KB4524147 on Friday afternoon, I could never connect to Paralles Client Desktop. It stopped working, didn't connect anymore and closed without letting it set the parameters.
As an SAP job through that application, I had no choice but to go to the forums and find out what was the update that damaged my work and I uninstalled it manually.

Thank you for your very helpful response. I presume that it will be available by standard update operations in Windows.
This has been an extremely frustrating situation. Everything worked on Saturday. Then Sunday morning the pc was started and a print job was needed immediately. Windows finished an update and then printing was impossible. Even my computers in the early 1980's could print documents. Now in 2019 Microsoft Windows cannot print documents. I suppose that the OS has become so complex and messy that no one can understand what will happen when any change is made. This is real technological progress at Microsoft. Thank God for Linux Mint. It installs quickly and works perfectly, just the opposite of Microsoft Windows. At least in the interim I am using it.

On some PC's I could uninstall the KB4524147, but on other PC's it can't be uninstalled.
The install history Shows that the KB ws installed at 10.04.19, so far OK unfortunately it is not listet on the site where updates can be removed.
and now?

Well, stupid me...after the update on October 5/6 killed my print spooler, I waited until Tuesday, and installed those updates. Now it does not give me the option to uninstall the original offender, AND my printer spooler STILL does not work.
I'm not in a for-profit setting. How does Microsoft get away with this kind of absurd sloppiness? I would think some people would be loosing thousands of dollars a day or more with this nonsense.

Hello, All
After windows update KB4524147 installed (October 4th) I have not been able to print from any browser.
I can open a PDF and print it from adobe, but if I try to print it directly from a (any) browser, the dialog box opens for a few seconds.
It then closes and never gives the option to choose the printer or an alternate one.
I have removed my printer (HP Officejet Pro 6968) and reinstalled it.
I have removed the windows update above and print setting and dialog box was restored but windows started installing the update again so I ran the tool Show/Hide Updates Microsoft provided but it does not show any updates to hide.
So, I then disabled windows update for 7 days (on the 7th.). But this morning (9th), Windows updates were enabled and installed the update again and I can't print from my browsers again.
What Do I Do?

Greetings to everyone:
KB4517389 released yesterday, October 8, 2019 was apparently designed to fix this problem. I downloaded and installed it through normal Windows Update on all of my pc's and we can now print. Perhaps all of you should try this.
I am still quite angry at the way Microsoft with impunity can at least temporarily so disrupt our ability to work. We do not normally receive any detailed information about what updates change and the problems they may cause. You just turn on your pc in a situation needing to produce something simple like the printout of a document and discover that you have been sabotaged by the monopoly again. Personally, I would stick with Linux Mint, but we have two specialized applications that are not available in Linux. It seems to me that Microsoft should at least do no harm with updates. One gets the sense that they never really test anything in house. They let us do that for them, and suffer the consequences.

Problem is...I DID try this, but it didn't work! Then I was unable to reverse (uninstall) the original offending update. Microsoft has really screwed us, I agree.
