Mac Outlook 15.17 Check Names button no longer available with IMAP

Since updating to Mac Outlook 15.17 over the weekend, the Check Names button is no longer available (grayed out) with my IMAP account that searches an LDAP directory for email addresses.  I have verified that I am still able to browse this LDAP server using the Address Book in the ribbon, so this isn't an LDAP communication issue.

This worked as of Friday 12/11 before I installed the most recent updates.

Update 2015-01-11:

The Outlook 15.17.1 update did not resolve this issue and it still persists.

Update 2016-05-15:

Mac Outlook 15.22 (160506) still has the same problem.  I have submitted an official request to fix this on Mac Outlook UserVoice.  Please vote here if you want Check Names functionality restored by MS.

Update 2016-08-01

Mac Outlook 15.25 update did not resolve this issue.

Updated 2017-03-16

Mac Outlook 15.33 (170315), issue still not resolved.

That is the first thing I did.  But I like to post on the community forums to find out if this is a common problem or not.  I seem to get a better response from the forums than Microsoft directly.

Still no hope fir this fix. I am up to Outlook 15.28; I assume MS does not intend to fix the problem. 

Selecting names is troublesome-- it shows the potential person in a "smart search" while you are typing the name but if you write the whole name, too late, won't find the name. If while you are typing you try to select from the predictions, they last on the screen fir about 2 seconds, too fast to respond. Then you have to go back , remove some letters from the name you are typing, then you get a chance to choose the name you want.

With "Check Names" you can type in all the names and then get a chance to fix any that are incomplete or incorrect.

I sure would like that function back! It's another place where mac users are shorted on functions  compared to Windows.

Restore the Check Names button with IMAP/LDAP Directory Services
Be sure to include the version number and OS version when asking your question.

I made the formal request and possibly even voted twice. Not holding my vreath; just updated to Outlook 15.29; no change .
