Well, it has begun...

I just got a message with the following:

"15th prestige lobby and infections 1600¤ join session or msg for inv"

This is the first one I've ever received in black ops, excluding the time when it was a glitch. I guess now they've found a way to hack it, or it might just be a glitch again I suppose.

Please fix this soon treyarch.

FILE A COMPLAINT>MUTE>BLOCK COMMUNICATIONS>MOVE ON. The XBL PET will handle it from there and the offender will be punished.

FILE A COMPLAINT>MUTE>BLOCK COMMUNICATIONS>MOVE ON. The XBL PET will process the complaint and probably not do anything.

Fixed for accuracy. A guy I know on XBL has held prestige lobbies for two years. He gets messages every other week saying he's been reported.

Guess which guy is still playing COD right now?

I'm not saying it's not worth it to file complaints, I just don't expect the enforcement team to do much about it. It's a sad reality that the vast majority of scammers, hackers, and other degenerates don't get banned.

I think you should get your FACTS straight before you make anymore baseless claims. The FILE A COMPLAINT system DOES work. Is it perfect? No. Then again there is no perfect service out there. If there was no one would have anything whatsoever to complain about, ever.

The biggest problem with the system is that people like you assume it doesn't work and don't FILE COMPLAINTS when you encounter these people, mostly because you don't think it is your responsibility to do so, and they never get caught. Policy enforcement on XBL is not instant. Just like with real life crimes it takes time to investigate, gather evidence and take action. Also if the system didn't work then there would be no need for THIS PLACE.

Oh, come on. You know as well as I do that Stepto is full of crap. Whenever anyone asks a legitimate question at his "q&a" sessions he dodges it. When a woman asked why we weren't allowed to submit proof with claims, i.e. a link to the offensive message itself, Stepto said that the existing system was working as intended.

The problem is is that, especially with glitches, there is little proof that anything actually was done. Someone going into a private match and afterwards changing their settings (which was essentially the first 15th glitch) can't exactly be traced. And when someone is swearing at you in an online game it's not like they can pull up the chat log and find it, banning the person.

I'm not saying no one gets banned, or that filing a complaint isn't worth it. I filed a complaint the minute I got the message. I'm just saying that you can't go by statements from the man in charge and the suspension forums as an overall marker of the system's efficiency. There are a lot of people that slip through the cracks, as it is with any system. You just have to look at sites like seven sins to see that. Or hell, look at the top 5,000 players on the leaderboards in MW2. Very few of them are banned despite having 600 days played and 30 billion kills.

I will say that the File Complaint system works, but it only works to an extent.

Not everyone can be caught and banned quickly.

I think the XBLPET team needs a staff increase.

Banning requires human judgement to differentiate people trolling one person or if the person actually deserves a ban.

However humans can only go through so much so fast especially when they need some sort of evidence.

I agree that no system is perfect, but after looking at how many people, that we know of just from posting in the suspension forum, the XBL PET have PERMANENTLY BANNED from XBL I'd have to say they are doing a great job. Now all the community needs to see is the GAME DEVELOPERS taking action against the cheaters/modders.

You can report people offering in game services in exchange for currency of any sort, and just because someone says they can get you a 15th prestige for MSP does not mean they can, that's the concept behind scamming, just report them, block them, and move on.
