Hey there! I'm sorry to hear that you are having some issues with the accounts and money. Hopefully I'll be able to help you sort out and choose the best options for you and your family.
First of all, on your son's account, maybe using prepaid time cards would be a better route to go. This would remove the need for a credit card to be on file and thus prevent your son from accidentally purchasing content.
As you have found, you cannot remove your card at this time. If the card is attached to a current Xbox LIVE Gold subscription it must remain through the duration of the subscription. You can call up
phone support in your region and ask them to turn off auto-renewal on the account. Once the current subscription runs out, you will be able to remove the card completely.
I also believe there is an Online Safety setting that you could try out in the meantime. If your son is on a Child Account, go into the parent account and navigate to the Family Safety settings. There you should see your son's Avatar. Select this and under
Online Safety Settings select Edit. From there, find the option for purchasing premium content and turn this off. This should prevent him from downloading any content other than free demos and such. I haven't personally used this much (no kids yet) but it
may help you out. Let me know if this works for you!
I apologize for the "rough reception" you experienced here on the forums. If you have any further or other issues, don't hesitate to post or even contact me directly. I'm here to help! Thanks!
