Single vs. Family membership

I am trying to decide which membership -- single or family. What are the pros and cons to both? Would the family membership allow each person to play a game with their membership (up to 4) and earn points? Could each member use headphones then to play online?

There are essentially two memberships: Free and Gold.

Within gold you have the single and Family pack.

With the family pack you get everything you get with gold. But there are cons involved.

One account is considered the "primary account" and is the only account with purchasing power. The billing instrument (card/paypal) is on the primary account. The other three accounts, classed "Secondary accounts" have some child account limitations. They can not buy points on their own account. The primary account buys the points specifically to transfer to their account.

Another restriction: secondary accounds can not download mature demos from the console - as if they were child accounts. They can get around this by setting up the download from xbox.com or downloading on a free account.

Otherwise, here's the comparison chart between Free, Gold and Gold Family: www.xbox.com/.../Join

One addition: the secondary accounts can add Points via pre-paid cards/codes.

If you need/have four accounts, or usually even three, it saves money to go with the Family Pack as long as the few restrictions aren't a problem.

Ah, I wasn't sure about that so didn't include it. Meant to say I wasn't sure -shrugs-.

A few additional warnings, if something happens to suspend the primary member, everyone is suspended (billing, ban, ect).

Also, the primary account should be someone you trust. You are giving them parental authority of the account. Which means they can make it so you can't go online if they feel like it.
