new xbox 250gb disc tray opens and closes randomly by itself.

Is this the S console, or an older model one with a 250gb HDD?

its the brand new gloss black model with internal hard drive.

Make sure theres no dust or anything else on the Open tray touch pad thingy.

Sometimes id does something weird when theres light shining direct on the touchpad thingy

ive tried all that. its starting to get really annoying now, think i might have to send it back :(

Alright, and just to be certain, there isn't anything near the console when this happens? I've noticed sometimes my roommate's cat can be a little curious and open the console on her own by touching the eject pad button. :)

nothing near the console, dont have any animals, and switches on in middle of night. looks like another bug that microsoft gota sort out. you would thibk they would get it right ny now wouldnt you?!!!

Alright, it does sound like there might be an issue with your console's capacitive buttons then, which would be covered under a warranty repair. You can set up a repair here.

I have the same problem,  new Xbox, the disc drawer opens and closes non-stop.   Sent it back for repairs, it was returned to me with a note that it was tested and found to be problem free.   The issue started immediately, the second I plugged the unit in, so I doubt it was tested.   The agents I've spoken to act as though they are not aware of this problem until pressed, then they admit that they know about it.   When an agent finally admitted the problem and offered a fix I tried to tape the instructions, but he told me if I was taping the conversation he would hang up, and he did.    What is wrong with this picture?

my xbox started ejecting the disk in the middle of games also...really wierd and annoying i'll probably buy a new one.

i just got the 250gb holiday bundle on black friday and mine has been on every day when i get home since i got it. thinking it could have been our cat i covered the xbox so she couldn't get to it. it just turned itself on 20 minutes ago and the cat was next to me. no lights on in the room. it even makes the noise like i pushed the eject button.i'm going to clean the eject button and if that doesnt fix it i'm going to get it swapped.
