Entry point error

Entry point error:    "The procedure entry point ?_Xfunc@tr1@std@@YAXXZ could not be located in dynamic link library MSVCP90.dll"  when I finish trying to install Lavasoft Ad-Aware or try to launch it.  This has something to do with Visual C++.  Lavasoft says is a Windows problem.
Hi Drchef2,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forum!

Based on my research, I would suggest you to try the following steps.

Method I - Run a System File Checker Tool.

To determine whether the issue that you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows Vista, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of the system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool , follow these steps:

1.         Click Start , and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
2.         Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your
              password or click Continue .
3.         At the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER :
              sfc /scannow

When the scan is completed, test to see whether the issue that you are experiencing is resolved

Check out this link for more details about the System File Checker Tool.

If System File Checker is of no help, perform a clean boot.

Method II: Perform a clean boot

Clean boot uses minimal set of drivers and startup programs and helps in eliminating software conflicts.
   1. Click on Start ; in the Start Search , type in msconfig and hit Enter .
   2. Under the Services Tab, check on Hide all Microsoft Services .
   3. Under the Startup tab, click on disable all and then click Ok .
   4. If you get a prompt to restart the computer, click on Restart now .

When the computer is in a clean boot, the third party services and applications are disabled. Once the computer is restarted, check if the issue occurs at this time.

Check out this link which talks about how to perform a clean boot

Note: Follow all the steps given in the link to figure out which software is conflicting.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

If you couldn’t determine what program is conflicting, I would suggest you to uninstall and re-install the program.

Hope this information is helpful and let me know if this worked.

Regards,
Mouneshwar R – Microsoft Support

Thank you for your response.

I have done both of these since this process began.  When I ran SFC again this time, I received this message at the end:  Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix them.  It then stated that the results were in a CBS.log.  I looked this over and although I don't know what I'm looking at, the only problems I saw were lines relating to desktop.ini where a different file was found than expected (several of these), could not project corrupt file relating to some windows store, and lots of ingnoring duplicate ownership.

Also, as a matter of background, I have been trying to install this software since purchasing this new computer in the spring without success.  The older version gave me a side by side configuration error, the latest version is giving me this problem.  I have uninstalled using both Revo at the highest setting followed by Windows CleanUp, as well as uninstalling in Safe Mode.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
