Error code: 0x800CCC0B when trying to send email using Windows Mail.

Original Title: Windows mail

My windows mail has stopped sending mail. I was offline the last 4 days and my antivirus went black list so it had to be repaired. In fact before I even did the repair windows would not send. I can receive mail not send. Here is the error reason they provide:

An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'test', Account: 'renee', Server: '196.30.31.203', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0B

Also this vista computer has NEVER been able to copy and paste successfully as my XP computer does. The only way I can copy anything onto Microsoft Works Word Processor is to paste onto a Create Mail in New Message box and then copy that and only then am I able to paste onto a Microsoft Works Word Processor document. Is that the only way to copy and paste with Microsoft in future?

Also there is so much on this vista machine which makes its slower than my XP computer that is more than 10 years old. When I logon in the morning I have to wait for ages for all these programs to load and the vast majority of them I do not use. Please let me know which programs I can remove from this vista pc to provide more space and to enable the machine to at least provide the same speed as my XP computer..

I look forward to your assistance

Thank you

Renee

Hi goldfinga,

Error code 0x800CCC0B means “Server or mail drop is busy”. I would suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1:

Temporarily disable or if possible uninstall the antivirus program and test the issue. Make sure you enable it back or install the antivirus software after testing the issue.

Disable antivirus software

Warning:
Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Step 2:

Try the steps from the following article link:

Troubleshoot problems with Windows Mail - I can receive, but not send, email messages.

Also, have a look at the following link wherein a similar issue has been resolved:

Cannot send mail from windows mail using skymail. Error code 0x800CCC0B

Also, post your queries related to Microsoft Works in Microsoft Office Forums > Additional Microsoft Office Products Forums.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thanks and Regards,

The error "unexpectedly terminated" is usually caused by interference from an antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems with Windows Mail over time. As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off, although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects. In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled/reinstalled or replaced. A free antivirus that is 100% compatible is available here:

One thing you should try as a possible quick fix is to delete that corrupted mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

For more on why email scanning in your antivirus is bad, see:

As to your other issues, it is best to post them in a separate thread.

A fast easy way to disable Anti-Virus programs and any other program that would block usage would be too  shut your windows computer down completely, then when turning computer on press the F8 button until you get to a boot menu. At which point choose safe-mode w/ networking.

This will disable any and all Ant-Virus and or Firewalls

I think Gary has it right.  Delete all unsent messages in the outbox, and you will be fine.  You likely had one recipient's E-mail address entered wrong, such as "...@ hotmail.com"   Note that the error is that there is a space after "@".  This error would have created the problem.
