Having used Briefcase to update files between my various computers with windows 7. I am unable to find Briefcase in windows 8 pre release. Is there a better way of keeping my files current with my main PC?
You can use Microsoft's Sync Toy, a program that helps you syncronize data (in three different ways) between selected folders. I use Sync Toy for backing-up my documents and pictures to my external hard drive and then synchronize them between my
laptop and desktop.
Skydrive uses your internet connection or wireless/wired home network to synchronize data between your computers and your online drive. Thus, it may take too long to complete and will slow down your connection.
Windows Live Mesh is almost similar to MS SyncToy, but works fully automatically via network and won't let you review any changes it is about to perform, this way it may overwrite the wrong files during sync. If I'm not wrong, Live Mesh is outdated and
Skydrive is it's replacement. If you still want to use the briefcase, follow
these instructions, as "Novaterata" suggested in the previous reply.
