my windows 8 upgrade is not compatible to my HP laptop, how can i find a fix or get a refund?

after i bought my HP DM1 laptop, i was offered the option toupgrade from win7 to win8 However there is a keyboard issue and the warranty tech removed my new windows 8. Can i get a patch fix for the keyboard that sudeenly stops responding or can I organise a dual boot on my laptop for win 7 or win8? last resort is can i get a refund if no solutions are possible. HP said its a software probem, not their hardware issue.

Which DM1 is it exactly? A number of them are offering drivers only for Win7 32-bit, while the higher end ones are also able to run Win8 32- or 64-bit. Look on the sticker on the bottom for the complete model number, or on your purchase receipt (depending on where you bought it). Post that information back here, and we can research it a bit more for you.

On the sticker should be a number like DM1-XXXXxx where XXXXxx would be something like 1117tu, 4123ca, 4211nr, etc. That suffix is the difference in the models and upgradability.

Here's the link for Win8 64-bit drivers:

There's nothing keyboard-specific, but it wouldn't hurt to update all of them and see if that fixes it.

There's also a "Scan Now" button that's supposed to check for missing/outdated drivers. Some of those work well, while others, not so much. They don't usually install anything extra, but will sometimes miss an older driver.
