Windows 7 - Unable to open programs

I got bought an Acer laptop and I am now unable to open any programs. When i click to open a program, it asks what I would like to open it with. I can only open My Computer. Even Nortons wont open.  The laptop has Windows 7 Home. Can anyone help me?? PLEASE?

Can you do anything from a Command Prompt or System Restore accessed via the Startup Repair options?

Try typing ASSOC .EXE=exefile at the Command Prompt
