I have Win 7 Pro 64 bit on an HP Pavilion laptop that is about 4 years old. I've upgraded the hard drive and memory, and all software is up to date. I also run viruscan software with continuous protection, multi-scans per week, and malwarebytes scans deep twice a week.
My UAC has started asking for permission when I manually start iTunes via a desktop shortcut that has "run as administrator" checked. iTunes will no longer start automatically when I connect my phone via USB even though I've uninstalled all apple products and reinstalled multiple times using "run as administrator". Other programs that I try to start manually also ask permission to run. It also seems to be affecting my automated backup program that writes to a home network drive (via wireless access) causing the backups to fail for not having permission. At first I thought that my backup software had issues, because it would crash during the night (when backing up) with a program exception, so I got another backup software and it keeps a log that is telling me that it is having permission issues. I do not want to turn UAC off for obvious reasons, but I lowered the permission as low as I am comfortable with to level 3 (not-recommended) but that did not help, so I put it back to level 2 (recommended). As part of my attempting to fix this, I've tried to give my network drives permission for ALL to be able to have total access, and that fails as well. I've had the backup software for 2 years, and the network drive for almost as long with no backup problems until this UAC issue started. There are no other "users" on my computer, and I have admin level access. I can access all of the files on the network drive just fine from my laptop.
I'm stumped as to how to fix this.
