External Drive not accessible in Windows 7, shows up as USB ATA/ATAPI Bridge, doesn't appear in Disk Management.

Have you made any changes to your computer?
I would suggest you to check with other computer if the issue is still persist.
Method 1:

Thanks for your response, but it isn't that the device isn't being recognised- it does appear in 'Printers & Devices' as a USB ATA/ATAPI Bridge (it's profiled as a 'mass storage device').
It doesn't appear in Disk Management, or in Computer where external drives usually show up, so I'm not able to assign a letter.
Windows can't install the driver for it, and as it's a hard drive pulled from an old laptop there's no disk with any drivers on it.
