What is the message icon on the Windows 10 lock screen?

My opening ‘Lock-screen’ has an icon like a small (squareish) speech bubble with a number 1 underneath, I think it tells me that I have 1 message.

But the thing is, I don’t think I do.

It is similar to the notifications icon in the system tray at the bottom-right (once I’m logged in), but the icon on the lock screen is the same whether I have notifications there or not.

I use Outlook and again, the icon on the lock screen is the same whether I have unread messages in Outlook or not.

I have attached a picture of the icon – for clarity. I would love it if anyone could tell me where my unread message (that is so important it should be on my opening lock-screen) is.

Thanks

M

It is referring to a message app that you have installed. Personally I right click on the taskbar and select settings and then go to lock screen and under 'choose apps to show quick status' I select none for everything except calendar and alarm & clock, problem fixed.

 Hi,

The icon, which appears on the Windows 10 lock screen, indicates notification of the messages received on  Skype app or Messaging app on Windows 10.

If you read the messages received on  Skype app or Messaging app on your computer, then the notification icon on the Windows 10 lock screen disappears.

Hope the above information helps. Reply with necessary information and the result to help you further.
