Windows changed my UK keyboard to US -- how get the UK one back?

This problem happens every so often.  Suddenly, for no apparent reason, my UK laptop keyboard switches to a US keyboard.

How can I switch it back to the UK keyboard and how can I prevent it from ever switching to a US keyboard again

Hello,

Windows 10 has a default system-wide language, but you don't have to be stuck with a specific language if your needs are different. Follow these steps to change the system and keyboard language:

Change the system language

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open Time & language.
  3. Select Region & language.
  4. Add your preferred language, and set it as default.

Change the keyboard language

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open Time & language.
  3. Select Region & language.
  4. Click on the default language, and select Options.
  5. You can add or remove keyboard languages.

We'll wait for the result.

Thank you.

Here are the results: (Actually, these two proposed 'solutions' are one and the same.)

Change the system language: UK was already set as my preferred and default language, so this has no bearing on correcting the problem.

Change the keyboard language:    The Country was already set to UK and the Windows display language was also already set to UK.  So this has no bearing.

Again:  The switch from a UK to a US keyboard happens randomly and without my Doing anything, so I might be in the middle of typing a sentence in an email, and one minute the keyboard is UK, and then eventually I type a key that is different on the US keyboard and I realise that the keyboard has mysteriously changed!  This happens to me a few times a year, for years now!  Weird, no?

The combination Windows key+Space bar will change the keyboard language. If you remove US English from the set of installed keyboard languages then the change can no longer happen.

THANK you!!!   THIS is an ANSWER!

That fixed it, and

it explains why my keyboard would change langue every so often -- I must have accidentally touched the windows key + space bar without realising!
