Devices with Toshiba XG4 Series, Toshiba XG5 Series or Toshiba BG3 Series solid state disk (SSD) drives may experience degraded battery life after upgrading to Windows 10 April 2018 Update

After upgrading to Window 10 April 2018 Update, select devices with Toshiba XG4 Series, Toshiba XG5 Series or Toshiba BG3 Series solid state disk (SSD) drives may exhibit lower battery life.

Microsoft is working with OEM partners and Toshiba to identify and block devices with Toshiba XG5 Series or Toshiba BG3 Series solid state disk (SSD) from installing the April 2018 Update due to a known incompatibility that may cause battery performance issues.

Microsoft estimates the release date for the resolution for this issue to be available in early June.

If you have encountered this issue and cannot wait for the resolution, follow the steps to Go back to your previous version of Windows, and wait for the resolution before attempting to install the April 2018 Update again.

This issue is resolved in KB4100403

.

To get Windows 10, version 1803, we encourage you to wait until the update is offered to your device following the June Update Tuesday. If you’re an advanced user on an actively serviced version of Windows 10 and would like to install the Windows 10 April 2018 update now, you can manually check for updates. In the Search tab, type “Settings”. On the Settings page, navigate to Update & security > Windows Update > click “Check for updates”, which will include this resolution.

Hi, it looks like the latest KB4100403 update has negatively affected the write speed of the XG5 series SSDs.

Please take a look at the question I've created here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/toshiba-xg5-512gb-experiencing-slow-write-speeds/22191f97-8011-4596-926f-b63b1a4a351c?tm=1527729801774

I'm still having slow write speeds on my Huawei Matebook X Pro with 512GB Toshiba XG5; even after the KB100403 update. Indeed, the issue may have even become worse.

After upgrading to 1803 and installing KB4100403, I am having a write speed of ~ 460 MB/S on my Toshiba XG5 512GB.

Microsoft, please fix this issue in a future update.

I'm on the July update: KB4345421. Unless I'm missing something, you provided a link to the May update: KB100403; So, I would be rolling back to a previous update.

I'm already on the July update and the problem persists. While I appreciate your attempts to assist, simply posting links to the update installers is not a solution.
