Excel v. 16.32 update running very slow on Mac OS Catalina

I am working with a very simple .xlsx file (301kb) that has no formulas active. The file was working normally (i.e. smooth scrolling, no lag on entry of data into cells) until the recent update to v16.32.

Now, when working in this very small file, Excel is lagging very noticeable on scrolling, panning, navigation through cells with the arrow keys or tab key, and text/data input is also lagging.

No other system components have been updated or changed with the exception of Microsoft Office updates. It is impossible to work on the file with current Excel behavior.

Hi Michael,

Have you tried the above methods? If these still can’t work for you, you can try the following advice:

1.   Launch safe mode which help you resolve issues that are stopping your Mac from starting up or any issues related to your startup disk.

2.  Create a new worksheet, copy and paste the contents of the problematic worksheet to the new one and see if you have the same issue.

3. Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac and see if it works for you.

4. Create a new Mac user accountSometimes issue is caused by a specific corrupt user profile.

To better understanding your scenario, please provide the following information:

1. Your Excel version. Open Excel and click “About Excel” and capture the screenshot.

2. Does the issue happens on all worksheet or a specific one?

Regards,

Amiu
