Installing windows 10 final build on asus x205ta

hello all,

I'm curious whether my asus x205ta can now be upgraded to windows 10 final build as its available now. I can see the get windows 10 icon in my tray and I've already reserved it. But since asus x205ta has a compresed OS (wimboot), I'm afraid whether it will install on my system or not. today I ran force upgrade to windows 10, it started downloading, but I aborted the download @20% in fear of ruuining my system.

I read somewhere that installing win 10 on wimboot devices like x205ta makes the system unusable.

kindly someone reply to guide me to install win 10 on my device.

thanx

I've successfully Installed windows 10 on Asus X205ta. Everything is working normally here. Asus has updated the driver on their website, update them from there.

The trackpad seems bit laggy though.

Thanks PankajGehloach.  Im glad it worked for you as my situation is similar to the OP.  I can get through the downloading but the installation hangs because I dont have enough free space - only 7G available out of 18.8G (I have only installed office, firefox  and chrome).  Can you share how you did it - windows update or using the media creation tool with a USB thumbdrive?   Did you wipe the drive first?  If so, how did you handle product key activation?  How much free space did you have?

Thanks and sorry for all the questions.

Scudder

Hello all,

I succeeded in installing win 10 final build using media creation tool.

Just install and run the media creation tool and it does rest all.

It notified that I have less memory and I need another 9 gb of storage. I just inserted my microsd card in it and voila! It started installing without any problem.

Just install win 10 using this method...no problem at all.

just keep a micro sd card inserted, with 9-10 gb memory free, its for backing up ur win 8.1 in case u wish to revert back to win 8.1.

Hey pankaj,

everything is running fine here on my system, touchpad too. its just that the scrolling is in reverse direction which I'm not used to. I mean something that people call "natural scrolling" sort of.

Are u facing the same problem? Or did u fixed it?

If u fixed it, share how...

thanx

It can, but be aware that the wifi support is still buggy and wifi occasionally crashes entirely requiring a reboot to get it back.  The ASUS support site hasn't updated with a Windows 10 driver for the Broadcom chipset.

Everything else seems to work great, and they just updated the touchpad drivers so gestures seems to be working fine.

Cheers

I am trying to upgrade to Win 10 build 1607 32bit ISO to upgrade asus x205ta that had OEM version of win 8.1. Product key window pops up, no option to skip. I have no idea what should be done. PC Info section shows Windows is activated. Thanks for any help.
