Programs autostart after boot in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

Question though: Some editions, like Enterprise, don't have the setting mentioned. In the original blog post, you pointed that out:

"Note: The feature is only available on PCs that are not managed by enterprises. This includes home PCs that are sync’d to enterprise (work, school, etc.) email."

Given that I'm not aware of a group policy that exists for the feature, it's an interesting proposition as to how the app startup part of it is handled on Enterprise etc. I am aware of a Registry method only, which is fine, but is that actually the intent?  Usually there's a policy.

Nice!  Would make sense to me to have it be a separate toggle option in there, but I don't care if I have that option disabled to turn this "feature" off.

That's fantastic news!  When would would this hit the regular release versions of Windows?  I'm happy just knowing it's coming, but fantasizing it'll be later this month or next Patch Tuesday versus the middle of next year some time.  I still don't remember to use my batch file to shut down every time lol

In tests with 17040 on Enterprise, the answer to the above appears to be that, absent the feature in the UI, it defaults to Off, at least for application restart purposes (not sure about the feature's primary purpose).

Tested with Word 2016, Regedit, etc. They do not start automatically on Enterprise in 17040 -- no UI setting, no using the Registry method mentioned above.

I hope others prove this out and that it isn't just a fluke here.

Not really keen on this being combined into that setting which is already quite poorly explained as to what it actually does.  It should be a separate, clearly worded option.

Yeah, I totally agree (and still can't quite understand what that option means) but if that's the only way we get it, I'm thrilled to get it!

Yeah, I totally agree (and still can't quite understand what that option means) but if that's the only way we get it, I'm thrilled to get it!

I hope this will be ported to RS3 with a cumulative update :/

I think MS will have to fix this soon - because this is a serious security issues for businesses. Not to mention how BIG of a nuisance it is to 99.9% of all users.

STOP MAKING OUR OS WORSE!

YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW WE WANT TO USE OUR MACHINES!

Implementing features like this should come as OPTIONS - so that you can TEST if people actually WANT it.
