Xbox One using the wrong channel numbers

I have my stb (Homeworx HW-150) correctly configured in the Xbox One, but the one is issuing the wrong numbers to tune channels. The HW150 is expecting a number like 90-104 to tune NBC, but the Xbox only sends '104'.

I have this exact same problem.  It would be nice if there were a way to tell the xbox what the proper channel number was.

So, is this something that Xbox is just going to completely ignore?  Some kind of response would be nice.  This may not be an issue for everyone but it certainly is a problem for a number of us.

Because I did not see this thread, does not mean it is not important. It also does not mean it is being ignored. I appreciate the enthusiasm. There has been a thread or two about the Homeworx HW-150 (although not everyone had that box in the thread, folks reported a wide range of ideas), can I assume that you, Ixll1977 have the exact same model STB (set top box, aka cable/sat box)?

As I am unfimiliar with the Homeworx stb off-hand (I think it is an OTA box, true?) It may need a discrete code to "hit enter" or is using the wrong IR code, or the blast is too slow or too fast. To get a better idea of what is at hand, a few questions come to mind:

1. What have you tried so far (as to not re-invent the wheel)?

2. support.xbox.com/.../troubleshoot-oneguide (good place to check)

  a. Was anything successful (or not) here?

3. What default IR code is being used?

4. Does ANY station go to the correct station?

5. It is OTA, correct?

6. Does On/Off work (if configuration was correct, and when turning on the console)?

7. Have you adjusted the IR speed (from the Xbox settings> TV & OneGuide > Troubleshooting)?

Sorry about the 100 questions here. Thanks. I look forward to seeing the reply. Have a super day

-Cheers

Hermes,

Sorry about my somewhat short reply last week.  I was getting frustrated about this as everywhere I was looking I was getting basically the same result.

Here is the situation.

The 150 has no real technical issues with being controlled by the Xbone.  It does have a design flaw regarding it's placement of the IR sensor but that has nothing to do with codes, cable provider, antenna, etc. it just dictates where you need to place the box in relation to the IR blaster on the kinect.

The issue is this.

I have Wide Open West cable, the TV where my Xbone is connected does not have a set top box from WOW, just a splitter off the main cable line coming into the house that until I purchased the HW-150 was connected directly to the tuner on my TV which is capable of tuning approx. 100 channels using what I refer to "Basic" cable or what we all used to have back in the 90's before Tivo and set top boxes were required to do anything.

The HW-150, out of the box is an OTA ATSC tuner with built in DVR and on screen programming guide.  Using an unofficial firmware update that the manufacturer will provide upon request, the HW-150 can be updated to tune Clear QAM signals coming from services like I have provided by WOW, Time Warner, Etc.

When the channel scan happens, this is when the issues begin.  All of the channels I expected to be found are there, but the channel numbers are goofy.  For example, channel 49 (TBS) is found as something like 116-17 by the device.  If I wanted to use the HW-150 remote to change to what WOW would refer to as 49 or TBS, I would need to press 116-17 on my remote, not 49.  Because the program guide that the Xbone is downloading expects the channel number to be 49, when I tell the Xbone to switch to TBS, it blasts 49 through the blaster and the HW-150 fails because it never found a channel "49" in it's scan, only 116-17.

I went to the manufacturer of the HW-150 and asked for assistance with this and they directly stated that I was to find a way up this creek on my own and they would provide no paddle.

This leaves someone on the Xbone support team as really the only option to look for a way to resolve this.

Basically I am wondering/hoping/asking if there may be a plan in the future to add a way to manually edit channel numbers in the program guide that the Xbone downloads so I could go to the guide and find TBS and tell it that when I want that channel to broadcast 116-17 instead of 49, etc.

I hope that all makes sense.

Yes, it does make sense. You want to manually set channel numbers. A request has already been made for such a function (I will +1 for you). For the moment, the only option (not being a good one) is to find a station lineup that matches the output and enter that zip and provider. Like I said, not a good one, but that is where we are at this moment. I nor any support channel will provide any timeline on unreleased updates/patches/new features. (Sorry, I must put that in sometimes).

Ok, to be clear, is this a request that has been approved and WILL be worked into a future patch or is this a request that MIGHT be worked into a future patch?
