I am baffled by the prices on xbox live marketplace. Many of them are atleast twice the price or in some cases, 4x the price. For example Fable 3 which is a product of Microsoft and Lionhead. On xbox live it costs about 40€. In the normal real life store it costs from 10€ to 20€ counting 25 stores.
Call of duty black ops is 70€ on xbox live and 30€ to 40€ in 15 stores.
It is the same for all games and I just cannot understand this. There is no burning discs, no printing disc, cover or manual. No shipping or distribution and no middle man to make a profit (the stores) so why is it so expensive??
For instance, Fable 3, I would like to have a copy of it even though I already played it before but I do not own my own copy. I would gladly buy it on xbox live instead of going to the store but because the pricing is insane on xbox live I choose the store and save 30€.
Seems like Microsoft does not understand how it should be with purchasing and downloading a game. Because it is so simple for the seller and buyer it should be less exepnsive or at the very least, the same price. Instead it is like I should be so very grateful to be able to buy the game on live instead of having to go to the store that I should pay 2,3 or 4x the price even though there is absolutely no cost for Microsoft to sell it to me for the above reasons. It is just a file on a server.
Can somebody give me a good reason why Fable 3 or any other game should cost 2x or 4x as much as in the store? For me it is a total mystery and a shame to not be able to use the nice feature of casual game purchase because it is just not priced anywhere near resonable.
