Hello.

Can I use a gmail/googlemail email address to log into Xbox.com for my existing account or would I have to create a new gamertag and account with the gmail/googlemail email address?

Yes, you can use any email address for a Windows LIVE ID, it doesn't have to be hotmail or Live email address. However first you will need to make a Windows LIVE ID with your Gmail account. You can do that from here: www.passport.net/

Then, once you've turned your Gmail into a LIVE ID, you need to follow this guide to transfer your account to the new ID you have just created. http://support.xbox.com/en-us/xbox-live/how-to/xbox-live-account-management/manage-live-id
