Xbox sounds terrible through external speakers

I have a sherwood am/fm basic amplifier that is connected to 2 sony speakers. I can play the radio, my ipod, and my tv all from this with great sound. However when it comes to playing xbox the sound is terrible, like a muffled or even when the volume is on 1 the sound seems to overwhelming. I have the sound coming from the the tv from the headphone jack into a converter to RCA then into the amp. This makes it so whatever is playing on the tv plays through the speakers. Everything sounds good besides the xbox which is connceted to the tv via hdmi. Please help or if you need more info to help please ask!!!

My guess is that the signal coming from the headphone jack on the TV is an amplified signal instead of a line level signal.  When you feed that amplified signal into your Sherwood amp, it is amplifying and amplified signal which gives you that distortion you are experiencing.  If your Sherwood amp is an older model without an HDMI input and output, you may need to get an audio dongle like this one:

www.amazon.com/.../ref=sr_1_5

That audio dongle will give the line level output that the Sherwood amp is expecting.  Once you use that your audio issues should be solved.
