Slim to Hauppauge HD PVR

I have one of the new Xbox 360 slim's and I want to record game play with a Hauppauge HD PVR. Since the slim does not come with a component cable, how do I connect it to the PVR. Will a HDMI to component cable work? Or do I need one of the old style HD AV component cables?

 

Also I am using a monitor not a HDTV for the output from the HD PVR. Can I use a component to HDMI cable here as well? Is anybody running the same set up as me? What did you have to do?

 

I did try a Blackmagic Intensity Pro but my older PC was not able to keep up.

Just buy a component cable for the Xbox, you can get them very cheap second hand.
