Have you tried installing the game to hard drive to see if this corrects the problem?

Also try clearing the cache.. (normal stuff when things don't work)

When you say this is the 3rd disk you have, you have taken each back to store of purchase to get a new one?

Can you try clearing your console's cache, and if that does not help, try removing any corrupted content from the hard drive?

This is most likely a problem with MW3 and the disks. Try installing it to your hard drive, that may fix the problem.

ok im not being rude to any of the Xbox ambassador people but my post was quite a few days after the first problem post and obviously i read all the post before i wrote mine so i have cleared cache not even joking about 30 times now i have talked to Xbox people and gone through it with them still doesnt work took off hard drive, tried to load it on HHD still doesnt work, i want another answer rather then the (seemingly) copy and pasted answers that are getting posted to all the problem posts. I know its not your fault that Microsoft isnt giving you or us the means of sorting this out.

Juan Van i have taken the discs back to exchange them so havent lost any money through that however i have lots A LOT  of money on fuel because it takes bout 45mins to get to my nearest game store. :/ inconvinenent i know but tbh when i pre order a game and i get it through the post i expect it to work without me going into town to exchange it twice cos it wont work.

@Paddy: how old is your XBOX?

I'm running a 2007 XBOX Pro... got problems with MW3 and Gears. This is the weird thing: my games run fine if I don't run the mandatory update... (but I can't connect to LIVE). This is what I did after erasing all traces of MW3 on my HDD:

-I cleared my cache

-Ran MW3

-Did not run the update (got disconnected from LIVE)

-Was able to play the single player campaign, right where I left off on Tuesday night

-Tried to run Multiplayer - got "Disc Unreadable" error after the mandatory update

So I'm in the same boat -- "What to do now MS???" Tech support's answer (all three times I called in the last 3 days) was, "You need to send it in for repairs." Unbelievable.

I have installed both games(GW3/MW3) to my hard drive - have played thru GW3 and Online with no problems - I am planning on play MW3 this weekend.

It does sound like something is wrong with the console. :(

Edit: Or something is wrong with the new disk format..

If you have tried the disc in other consoles and the disc unreadable error continues, then the disc needs repair. If you have tried the disc in other consoles and they play fine, and you've tried the steps I mention above (clearing cache, checking hard drive for corrupted content) and you've tried all other steps in the standard disc drive troubleshooter, then the console is in need of repair. You can request a repair, here: http://support.xbox.com/xbox-360/troubleshoot/repair/repair-process

Try this before a repair:

Go to System Settings - Memory - Highlight the hard drive

When the hard drive is highlighted press the button combination "LB, RB, X, LB, RB, X".

This will remove the current install, the Xbox's automatic response will be to re-download the updates. One the current install is removed, the console will restart and begin the re-downloads.
