Just Curious..

What causes my Xbox to utterly annihilate my games? I'll be playing with no problems then all of the sudden I'll hear a scraping noise and the game will freeze. I take out the game to find a perfect circle outlined on the bottom of the disc. That's $60 out the door..

I have my console flat on an entertainment center. My house is stable and I assure you there are no volcanoes erupting nearby. I swear it's like these things were designed to self-destruct!*cough* How can I prevent this? I'm too paranoid to put anymore in. I've already had two casualties this month.

You can install the games to the HDD then if the game is damaged you can still play it. (as long as the xbox is able to recognize you own the disc)

I've known this and currently have 3 games installed. It takes up a lot of space. I have to delete stuff just to fit in updates. I can't do that for all of my games.

Contact support for your region and set up a repair. It is the laser head coming into contact with the game disc that is causing the scratch. The sooner you get it repaired the sooner you can get back to gaming.

If you live in the US/Canada the number to call is 1-800-4MY-XBOX. Anywhere else that is Live supported scroll to the bottom of this page and click on Support then on Contact Us then on By Phone. Your number will be listed there.
