There are 4 xbox users in my family all with there own console and own gold accounts, if I was to join them all in a family account, would that mean they can only use 1 console ? sound a silly question but not one I can find a simple answer to in the FAQ

You would have to have all of the gamertags on 1 console to add them all to the family plan. Once they are all on the plan, they can recover their gamertags back to their own consoles and use them on whatever consoles they want.

Yep after you set it up you can split off on different units. We have 4 accounts on 3 different units at our home. Family plan was one of the best things to happen. I don't have to share my xbox as much now :)
