I get "An unknown error has occurred.", when trying to delete messages

I get "An unknown error has occurred.", when trying to delete email messages in the InBox of Windows Live Mail (using Windows 7 Home Premium edition).

Hi Paula1222,

To address your concern, I recommend reinstalling your Windows Live Mail. Before you do this, it would be best to

back-up your messages. Then, uninstall Live Mail from your computer using this Solution article.

Before installing Windows Live Mail, kindly check the
system requirements first. Then you can download Windows Live Mail through this link: Windows Live Mail 2011.

After downloading Windows Live Mail, kindly configure your Hotmail account in Windows Live Mail. To learn more on how to do this, kindly refer to this link: How to configure a Windows Live Hotmail account in Windows Live Mail.

Thank you.

Mark,

I've successfully completed the steps you've recommended without success.  I still receive the "An Unknown Error Has Occurred" message when attempting to delete or move emails to the Junk Folder.  What else would you recommend?

Hi Blue_Crew_88,

It is possible that there is corrupted file from your Windows Live Mail or your Windows might need an update.

As our initial troubleshooting step, I recommend you to update your Windows Operating System and then repair your Windows Live Mail. To repair your Windows Live Mail, here are the steps:

1.     Click Start button (Circle button with a Windows logo it).

2.     Click Control Panel.

3.     Click Programs.

4.     Click Programs and Features.

5.     Search for Windows Live Essentials then double click it.

6.     Click Repair all Windows Live programs.

After doing so, please remove/add your account again. For added information, please visit:

Thanks!

I had the same problem (2 messages in Junk  email that would not delete)  and followed the above instructions, but I was not given the option "Repair all Windows Live Programs."  I finally dragged both messages to the Draft folder and was able to delete. FYI.

What an awesome idea.   Dragged my messages into Drafts and deleted them from there.

Had just about given up on getting rid of them.

Thanks.............

Oh my gosh, thank you! This was so frustrating, but your solution of dragging to drafts & then deleting worked like a charm!

I considered all offered solutions, preferring not to reinstall programs as sometimes this creates further complications. I tried the following which worked: 1. Delete the file after marking it as read. 2. Solution 1 usually worked but for the persistent message , I tried the drag to Drafts solution and that worked. Thanks everyone, for your suggestions.
