What to do about CHKDSK message "The volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems"

My XP Home just quit booting all the way through.  Previoously before quitting it would do a CHKDSK scan and then go on to finish booting.  Now it quits a few seconds after the Windows screen comes up with the little dots running accross.  The Windows picture remains on the monitor, but nothing else happens.  I put in my XP disk to run the Repair and got to the C:\Windows prompt after all the various commands finished.  I then typed in CHKDSK and Enter.  The first time CHKDSK stopped at 38% complete.  The 2nd time it finished and gave me the error message: "The volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems"

I sure would appreciate it if somebody can suggest my next move to get XP back running?
