Command prompt error: "System Error 5 has occurred: Access is denied"

Original title: System Error 5? (Vista)

A friend of mine has ask me to reset her password, since she's forgotten it entirely. (Which the moral of that story is, put a password hint--)

The problem is, when I went in to CMD, it came up with the following when I used the net user username * command:

System Error 5 has occurred.

Access is denied.

Any tips?

You have to be in an Admin Command Prompt window to issue that type of command - note also that sometimes a System Error 5 can also be the result of file corruption, It may be simpler to slave the HD and pull the user's data off, then do a System Recovery or a clean reinstall.
