DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

Hi,

I am trying to upload video files onto my Synology DiskStation using my Samsung laptop.  If the file size is bigger than 1GB, my laptop gives me 'DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION' error message and shuts down and restarts in a few minutes.  This has been happening all the time,  I am quite fed up.  Can someone advise me of a solution to my problem.

I have uploaded the minidump files at the following address:

https://onedrive.live.com/#cid=7F27B62D23C2E62F&id=7F27B62D23C2E62F%21138

Many thanks,

Surendra

Answer

Hi Surendra,

Both of the attached DMP files are of the DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (133) bug check.

This bug check indicates that the DPC watchdog executed, either because it detected a single long-running deferred procedure call (DPC), or because the system spent a prolonged time at an interrupt request level (IRQL) of DISPATCH_LEVEL or above.

avgfwd6a.sys and avgwfpa.sys is the AVG Firewall driver.

Remove and replace AVG with Windows 8's built-in Windows Defender for temporary troubleshooting purposes as it's causing NETBIOS conflicts:

This was Related to avgwfpa.sys AVG Firewall driver from AVG Technologies CZ, s.r.o.  I would remove it and use the built in defender.
