The company I work for currently outsources our computers, but, for the sake of saving some money, I have taken it upon myself to develop our computers in-house. Right now, the company we work with provides us with a computer, hard drive (with a customized
version of Windows Embedded Standard 7) and any necessary hardware for hooking it all up. Rather than me spending the time to redevelop the OS to our needs, I was wondering if I can simply image one of the hard drives they provide for us (with a program like
Norton Ghost) and flash the image onto new, blank hard drives. Obviously, this brings up some issues when it comes to product keys, licensing, etc. What I'm hoping is, that once the OS image is flashed onto the new hard drive I can just change the product
key within the software so that the version of windows in genuine/legitimate for each image I flash. By no means do I want to "pirate" the software, I simply want the exact same OS setup for each hard drive. Once the image is flashed onto the new drive,
a new product key will be purchased/supplied for each hard drive I flash the OS to. We plan on purchasing the exact same type/model of computer that has been provided for us from the company we outsource to, so, and this is one of the reasons why I want
to do it this way, drivers, etc. should not be an issue. If anyone can provide some insight that would be great.
If, for whatever reason, this is not possible and we decide to just purchase a Windows Embedded Standard 7 license and install disk, along with any kind of development software we would need to customize the OS, is there a way to easily emulate the configuration
of the hard drives we have in our possession now?
